Lorma Colleges was established in 1970 by its first director, Dr. Rufino L. Macagba Jr., to address the growing need for a nursing school in support of the then-expanding Lorma Hospital, which is now known as the Lorma Medical Center. Dr. Macagba Jr. pursued this vision with the support and encouragement of the LORMA founders, Dr. Rufino N. Macagba Sr. and Dra. Crispina Lorenzana-Macagba, who were both doctor-educators. The name Lorma is derived from the first syllable of the founder’s surnames: Lorenzana and Macagba.

Over the years, Lorma Colleges has grown from a small nursing school to a premier learning institution, offering a wide range of programs and recognized as the region’s best performing school. LORMA has received numerous accolades and recognition for its outstanding performance in Board Examinations in paramedical courses, including Nursing, Radiologic Technology, and Physical Therapy. Lorma Colleges is led by a dedicated team of directors who are the “Pillars and Builders” of the institution. Dr. Florence M. Tadiar served as President from 1977-1978 and 1979-1980. Rev. Salik C. Sinkiat was the College Director from 1980-1994, followed by Dr. Geoffrey S. Tilan from 1994-1998. Dr. Jose P. Mainggang served as Executive Director from 1998-2018, and Dr. Pacita G. Apilado is the current Executive Director for Academics.
